semibreve 2024
The Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis in Porto, Portugal, founded in 1833 by King Pedro IV, holds the distinction of being the country’s first public art museum. In 2021, we were honored to undertake the renovation of its long-term exhibition, a project that culminated in the museum being awarded the prestigious Museum of the Year Award in 2024.
The redesigned exhibition offers a cohesive narrative that guides visitors through the evolution of Portuguese art, highlighting influential artists and key movements. The museography expertly integrates thematic and chronological arrangements, utilizing modern display cases, interactive elements, and improved signage to enhance visitor engagement and accessibility.
A distinctive feature of the renovated exhibition is the strategic use of dark structures and panels, which create a striking contrast that enhances the visibility and impact of the artworks. These elements provide a unifying backdrop, allowing the vibrant colors and intricate details of the pieces to stand out while guiding visitors through the exhibition with a seamless flow and depth. The chosen typeface adds a modern yet timeless elegance, perfectly complementing the museum’s fusion of historical and contemporary elements, and ensuring a visually coherent and engaging visitor experience.
